The study examines application areas of fractographic analysis, its capabilities in the development of new materials, the selection of chemical composition, and the development of production technology. It shows possibilities for modifying fractographic methods for new materials development and the advantages compared with other methods for assessing failure causes of parts and mechanisms. The study presents fractographic methods, applied for assessing quality of a metallurgical alloy, studying patterns and mechanisms of failure process, level of destructive force, and identifying factors that cause material weakening on the path of the main crack propagation.
