Abstract

This article analyzes key aspects affecting the stability of the physical and mechanical properties of carbon fibers and demonstrates the relationship between these properties and the thermodynamic stability of carbon fiber, which does not guarantee the retention of properties due to the degradation of the sizing agent under external factors. A review of existing monofilament tensile testing standards (GOST, ISO, ASTM) is provided. Systematic errors in determining fiber diameter and cross-sectional area, in conducting monofilament tensile testing, and in recording strain are discussed.
