Assessing tendency to strain hardening of wires of various diameters made from austenitic-martensitic steel VNS9-Sh
Abstract
The effect of deformation rate (0,1–15 mm/min) on the mechanical properties and strain hardening of wires with diameters of 0,36–2,4 mm made from austenitic-martensitic TRIP steel VNS9-Sh after cold drawing with a degree of deformation of 31,5–86 % was investigated. It was established that the volume fraction of martensite increases linearly from 15 to 57 %. The ultimate tensile strength of wires with diameter of 0,36 and 2,4 mm reaches 2520 and 1758 MPa, respectively. According to the determined parameters of the Johnson–Cook model, VNS9-Sh steel wire is practically not susceptible to strain hardening.
